Text alerts strike chord in Taranaki

Taranaki Civil Defence Emergency Management Group media release Taranaki people are obviously keen on the idea of getting text alerts about impending Civil Defence emergencies. More than 1,200 have so far subscribed to a new service offering just that – and the region’s Civil Defence authorities are delighted at such a huge response.

Auckland’s water quality the worst in the country

By the Numbers – Dairy farmer fined $23,000 over stream pollution

A Northland dairy farmer has been fined $23,000 after a jury in Whangarei found him guilty of polluting a stream.

The jury heard that when pumping equipment failed on Henry Van Den Bogaart’s farm effluent overflowed for at least five days into a drain feeding into the Paiaka Stream.
