Green Media Release shows cows defecating in the Makakahi River

“We videoed calves walking through and defecating in the Makakahi River, a major tributary of the Manawatu River. We found cows with full access to the tributaries of the Mangatainoka River, which also feeds the Manawatu.

“Is it any surprise native fish have disappeared from two thirds of the Manawatu catchment when cows are free to fill the water with effluent.

By the Numbers – 20,000 Fine for Dairy Company

Hawke’s Bay Dairies was today fined $20,000 in the Environment Court in Napier today for a breach of their resource consent to discharge effluent, with further costs to be decided.

CS-VUE team changes

The team at CS-VUE wishes Ritashna all the best for her new role at as an Asset Management Engineer at Auckland City Council.

Auckland City Council have been using CS-VUE to manage their consents since 2004 and so while we are sad to see her go, we are also looking forward to assisting Ritashna in her new role as customer of CS-VUE!

By the Numbers – Fine for river bed activity North Canty

A North Canterbury landowner has been fined $8,500 for excavating and diverting the bed of a tributary of the Eyre River in North Canterbury, an area home to native fish and the endangered Canterbury mudfish.

Large fines for illegal building work

 Fines and costs of more than $31,000 for illegal building work on a Papatoetoe house are a serious reminder that owners and builders must get council consent, says Manukau City Council.The fines follow T P Field Developments Limited, Taito Phillip Field and Afano Tosoni pleading guilty yesterday at Manukau District Court to offences under the Building Act. There were two charges against each party for carrying out building work without consent. (Read on …)

CS-VUE NEW PROJECTS FUNCTION

You may have read the recent CS-VUE email newsletter which mentioned the introduction of a new Projects function within the system.  This email has been sent to you as your CS-VUE user record has created at least one Project in the system.

As part of the changes, we are introducing some new data fields within the Projects function.  It has been necessary to update existing Project records with the following fields: Project Type, Status, and Project Manager.  These updates are explained below.

Councils to receive help to speed up RMA processes

Councils are to receive assistance to improve their consent processing performance by focusing on best practice, Environment Minister Trevor Mallard said today.

A review of a number of councils that were not processing Resource Management Act (RMA) applications within a suitable time frame showed that poor quality applications, some internal procedural issues and staffing shortages were the main factors causing delays.
